The dark valley of temptation.

Here is a man who has not gone through the three gates of surrender.

1. The surrender of desire

2. The surrender if opinion

3. The surrender of self.

He has not learned how to examine and analyse his desires and habits and he cannot trace the roots in the mind and the effects in character and his life. He enters into the dark valley of temptation and each day. He lives the life of a beast. Eating, drinking, sleeping and Pershing enjoyment at the call of the lower impulses. He blindly gratifies every inclination without any questioning of his conduct.

How then can we help this man, driving ignorantly in the dark valley?

The desires in the dark valley will always glamour loudly for gratification. They will never die without consistent struggle and effort to change. They must be abandoned unconditionally and allowed to perish for want of food.

His first step should be to seek the Power of the Bible. The Bible will teach him the discipline, the principles and the laws

of nature which when acted upon gives power.

He must also learn to be self discipline by disciplining:

1. Thoughts.

2. Food and drinks (Selecting the mild and refreshing food which nature provides richly like grains, fruits and vegetables and avoid all forms of gluttony and drunkenness)

3. Rest ( Giving body rest it needs, rising early and never encouraging the beastly desire to indulge in dreamy indolence after waking.

4. Senses

Once he learns to discipline himself, he must take the step of self examination and analysis. He must understand the law of cause and effect and the law if the farm. Soon, he will see the need to abandon certain desires.

Notice, the dark valley of temptation is so deep and no one knows how far it goes though many travel it. Anyone who must wish to leave this road must climb up the lonely way of sorrow and suffering, the upward way out of the dark valley. It is a fight. It is a struggle.

Every highly powerful man must therefore seek the power of the Bible. If he finds it, he will find the energy to rise above the dark valley of temptation and he will be like a lamp on a mountain.

Joshua Keter

Day 1 – The seven powers of highly powerful people.

You reap exactly what you sow.

Its another evening, and you are watching the sunset once again at the top of Marriott Marquis hotel, the second largest building in the world. Its been a beautiful day, teaching the Arab heads of state…with her. She gives the lesson and you give an example then you teach and she gives an illustration. You look at her, just to admire her beauty, her chubby cheeks, long flowing natural hair and babyish smile. She looks even younger than those days in campus, seven years ago but wiser and calm and humorous. She is the reason you are here. Long time ago, she had a desire to be in Dubai.

Its been now seven years since you published the first book ” The Seven Powers of Highly Powerful People “. The book which has sold over 18 million copies and branded #1 Africa’s best seller and #1 network best seller. Its been an awesome experience teaching the life principles, living the moment, especially with her and you wonder how true it is that ” You reap exactly what you sow”

The world has gone through three generations and we are on the forth. The first was the age of hunters and gatherers. Then a farmer came. The farmer was 50% more efficient and 90% of hunters moved to farming. This age too took a long period before the industrial age. The industrial man was again 50% more efficient and productive and earned more than 50%. 95 % of the farmers moved into the industries. This is why everyone was looking for a job in this age. The few farmers, almost 3% produce what the country needs. Do you know what generation we are in? Hmmm? We are in the information age. This age is going to be 50% more efficient and more productive. Statistics show that so far, 5% are embracing the information age and are making up to 10,000 % in productivity. The first ones always win the game. Ask Google and Facebook or twitter or uber how much they are making.

This Sunday evening is a special one indeed. It was on the same first Sunday of April that you started writing the book. It was just after running 18 km, receiving a thousand shilling note for advising a couple in 10 minutes and reading 200 books ..most being best selling or Bible. You knew exactly the end in mind but you didn’t know the means, apart from the start. The start had been hard, it took you months to finish the first chapter, The power of the Bible and the second, the power of purpose. It was after these two chapters that you got a chance to fly to more than 10 countries to meet powerful and awesome people.

There is nothing like something for nothing.

This quote helped you achieve success in the book. Thousands of people participated. Some gave the most sincere beautiful stories, some wrote the opening quotes and some wrote awesome subtopics or funded the marketing and editing process. When the time to reap came, each harvested exactly what he or she had down.

One of the key pillars of every success is Integrity.

This is a short lesson on integrity.

One with integrity is like a star. A madman will try to pull him down with arrows of selfishness, treachery, lying and all forms of deceiving either by gesture, word or act.

Integrity is a moral principle.

One with integrity understand that lying and dishonesty can never under any circumstances be necessary. In time of indecision and perplexity, he will stand firm by the moral principal, willing to lose rather than sink into obliquity. Once he has made the right decision with integrity in the moment between stimulus and response, he will discover the glad truth that integrity does not lead to loss and suffering, but to gain and joy.

Integrity also comes with a deep understanding of the scientific formula ” Action and reaction are equal”.
Success must be purchased, not only with intelligent labour , but with moral force. As a bubble cannot endure, so the fraud cannot succeed or say, prosper.

All who are getting, or trying to get money without giving an equivalent are practicing fraud, whether they know it or not. Who is a thief? Its one who carries to its logical extremes the desire to posses without giving a just return.

Who shall defeat one of pure integrity? He is like a strong tree whose roots are fed by perennial springs.

To fail in one point is to fail in all.

To admit under stress, a compromise with falsehood, howsoever necessary and insignificant may appear, is to throw down the shield of integrity and to stand exposed to the onslaught of evil.

As the liar thinks all men are liars, and treats them as such, so does the man of integrity treat all men with confidence. He trusts them and they trust him.
Emerson said, ” trust men and they will be true to you, even though they make an exception in your favor to alter rules of trade.

An upright man of integrity wins confidence of others. Confidence wins trust. Trust wins a good reputation and a good reputation spreads further and further, and so brings about success.

Join, follow, encourage, fund, participate or market the process of writing this book. ” The seven Powers Of Highly Powerful People ” Chapter 1 is : The power of The Bible. Every book I have read have recommended or taught the principles in it or gave an example or illustration. There is power in the Bible. Give a story, a quote, an illustration or a subtopic on it.

End of day 1.

She is always a flower.

Its a Friday evening and you are sitting under a tall mahogany tree on a cliff watching the evening sun setting. You watch the picturesque rolling plains. The setting sun’s rays seems to make the flowers bloom better but not better than her. She always looks like a flower under this setting sun. Maybe this is why you always bring her here on Friday evening. She is now picking flowers. At some point she looks at you, and waves the flowers and you shout ” Pick more !!” Just so you can keep admiring her as you used to back in campus. Tomorrow will be Sabbath, a day to be happy.

Finally, after 7 years of working hard on your company, you were ranked number 278 in the fortune 500 companies. HBS ( Harvard business school) have been working on developing a case study on your business and today you gave a lecture together with her. You remember how you would say five sentence then she would say 15 then you would explain a given part of the model and she would complement with a good example.
You have always done this and it seems you have learned to talk like one person. Wherever you are, she is. Wherever you go, she goes. She is indeed a true example of better half.

Most often people don’t understand the true meaning of energy and how to transmute energy into meaningful success. Ellen G. White in the Book “Messages to young people ” says, ” Be not satisfied with reaching a low standard. We are not what we might be, or what it is God’s will that we should be. God has given us reasoning powers, not to remain inactive, or to be perverted to earthly and sordid pursuits. Many who are qualified to do excellent work accomplish little because they attempt little.Thousands pass through life as if they had no great object for which to live, no high standard to reach”  Alex Ferguson in the book “Leadership” says the young youth have great power and energy that they can do impossible.

In my study, here is what I learned about energy.

Energy must not only be directed towards good ends, it must be carefully controlled and conserved.

In physics, form 3, you must have learned that no energy is wasted or lost. Any energy that is to be fruitful must work intelligently with this principle.

– More haste, less speed.
– The maximum of noise usually accompanies the minimum accomplishments.
–  With much talk, there is little doing.
– Working steam is not heard but the escaping steam…. So loud

It is the concentrated powder which drives the bullet to its mark. It is the concentrated energy upon the accomplishment of a purpose that bring calmness.

Still waters run deep and the great universal forces are inaudible. It is a big lie that noise means power. Where calmness is, there is great power. And also, knowledge… I remember back in highschool, the most intelligent student used to be admirably calm.

Calmness is the sure indication of strong, well trained, patiently disciplined mind.

– The calm man knows his business. Be sure of it.
– His words are few, but they tell.
– His schemes are well planned, and they work true, like a well balanced machine.
– He sees a long way ahead and makes straight for it.
– He is never in a hurry nor taken by surprise but sure of his ground.
– You may think you have got him only to find you have tripped to your haste and he has got out.
– Approach him with a vulgar familiarity, and his look at once fill you with shame, and brings you back to your senses.

Show me a calm man and I will show you a man with focused mentality.

No energy, no capacity. Many who are unemployed lack this understanding. The man who sits in his room to watch a television, waiting for someone to propose a job is little likely to find employment. Energetic man will either find work or create it for work is a delight to him and whoever delights in work will not long remain unemployed.

To get more energy, you must use the full that which you already possess.

Just a week ago, together with her, you had a chance to speak to all the vice chancellors in Australia on leadership during a 3 day summit in Qualia resort at Hamilton island before heading to East Hotel at Canberra for another talk to military heads.
When someone dies, he ceaces to be be active and is said to be inert. A lazy person who is not active in some activity may be said to be inert too. He is not worth living where living means to love, to learn and to leave a legacy.

Have you ever learned that nature has got no such thing as waste? Even the excreta is transmuted to useful manure. Let the thoughtless fool say ” Let’s kill time” but not you. Wasting time, resources, skills, energy and your creativity is equal to breaking laws of nature.

Seven years ago, when you started the company, you had no idea that it would grow this big, that you would end up employing 7700 employees, that you would live in Chiwawa, a place where unemployment is at 3% and the probability of crime happening is less than 6%. You never knew you would be listed in the fortune 500 companies or even have a chance to lecture in Harvard business school. Today, you run the biggest children’s camp, with the best infrastructure and good leadership and management. Thanks to her. She always wanted to help kids and together, you have seen it happen. Indeed, success only comes to those who dare to dream big, those who dare to persist.

The sun is now setting, its last rays are beeming red. You are walking down the flowery valley with your hands on her waist, and she keeps looking at you and blushing with a smile just like those days when you were in campus. Its her turn to drive back the range rover ( you always do things half way, for each is a better half).. And together, you drive back home. Its yet another Sabbath to enjoy, to be happy, to rest and smile.

Deep in Lavington villages is a drive by the name Tande. It is almost circular with a circumference of about 1 kilometre. Between this drive are villas and gardens. At some point, beside it, you can see a beautiful koibatek gardens. Its well vegetated with tall huge trees. The place is however designed to have a scenic array of flowers. There are climbers which bloom with different kinds of flowers. Outside one of the villas is a rock suitable enough to sit on and watch as the sun rises in the horizon.

As usual, you wake up at 4:30, read the Bible and a few chapters of SOP, like desire of ages or steps to Christ or upward look, then practice some thinking for around 15 minutes. At 6 o’clock, you are ready for the morning exercise. Yesterday you discovered the scenic environment at Tande drive and today you want to watch the sunrise sitting on that rock. At exactly 6:42, you are enjoying the first rays of the sun. The air is cool, silent except for a few birds here and there, very natural and picturesque. Soon you realize 15 minutes are over and you have to get going. You leave with a promise to live one day in such an environment. Maybe that is what Ellen G White meant by a small heaven here on earth.

The last page in the book “Power of Habits” By Charles Duhigg goes this way:

” There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way who nods at them and says ” Morning boys, how is the water? ”

The two young fish swim along for a bit, and then eventually, one of them looks over at the other and goes, what the hell is water?

The water is habits, the unthinking choices and inevitable decisions that surround us every day and which, just by looking at them, become visible again.

Water is the most apt analogy for how a habit works. Water hollows out for itself a channel, which grows broader and deeper and after having ceased to flow, it resumes when it flows again, the path traced by itself before..”

Soon it is an habit that you sit on this rock, watch the sunrise, plan the day, imagine you live here then figure out a new route back home.

Behind the rock, there is a villas with an awesome balcony. There is also a swinging chair. A young lady, who just turned 20 during the Valentines day likes sitting here early in the morning to watch the scenic sunrise. Lately she has been observing you with some admiration.

Wednesday morning.

Today is just another beautiful morning. The sky is clear and its full moon period. 7:43 you are at the same drive, enjoying the sunrise. In fact, you close your eyes just to enjoy the full effect of the sunrise rays. Soon, you hear steps approaching. Its not common to find someone walking along this sides. People here are either driving or on a morning exercise or walking some German sherperd or other species of dogs. Most are white couples who keep on saluting and smiling at you.

In the Book, “You Have a Brain” by Ben Carson, I learned one great attribute of wise people. They are nice to everyone and to themselves. Covey would say, they understand that people are endowed with four endowments. Self awareness, counciousness, creative imagination and independent will.

Soon a young lady, shorter than you and athletic with flowing natural black hair, smooth beautiful and pretty face, and a peachy smile is leaning on your shoulder. You both discuss how you enjoy the sunrise and reading and some acapella songs… Its like you can go along with everything. Oh, she also speaks your mother tongue. Her name is Jeb. 40 minutes pass by like 3 minutes.

Thursday morning.

On Thursday, it is your habit to do a weekly analysis. You stand aside from the real you and study who you have been the whole week. You look at your achievements and failures, your financial expenditure, your habits and study lessons you wrote on your journal. This way, you ensure the week does not go without teaching you. You are also able to identify bad habits or bad association and rate your performance in a scale of 10. So today you sticked to your good habit even though the urge to go meet her and watch the sunrise was too huge. Talk of self control and understanding that you are a master of your thought, actions and habits.

Friday morning.

Just before Tande  drive is a road with more people who like morning runs. So, you keep running so close to a lady, then keep her pace and when she looks back, you smile, wink and overtake with such an incredible speed. You look back and you find them waving with a big smile. Fun!!

7:42 finds you again watching the sunrise. Today, you are not actually making the plan for the day but waiting for her. She lives just behind in the Villa’s. Out of disappointment, you start walking.. You can’t run. Then a range rover pulls over.

” Hey jump in! ”

“Where to? ”

” A garden beside a river. Dad went to Japan for some business and mum has left to work. My elder brother is in school. Mind going out?”

” But I’ll drive”

Whoooooah! Its a dream come true. You have been imagining driving a range rover apart from living in this kind of environment. You wonder how true the law of attraction is.

Understand that you attract two kinds of things into your life.

1. What you love

2. What you fear

Understand also that everything affects everything else.

Habits 2
There is unfortunately no specific set of steps guaranteed to work for every person but for sure,  we know habits cannot be eradicated but can be replaced.

Habit is a three step process.  Cue,  routine and reward process.  If we keep the same cue and the same reward,  we can insert a new routine. habits

But that is not enough.  For a habit to change,  people must believe change is possible.  Most often that change comes with the help of a group.

If you want to quit a bad habit – smoking,  drinking,  sex addiction,  hot tempers,  and all forms of addiction… Figure out a different routine  that will satisfy the graving fuelled by the stimulus.  Then,  find a support group,  a collection of other former addicts or people who are free from it.  This group can be a community of as few as two.  They will help you believe you can stay away from the addiction.  Contact them when you feel you going to stumble.

The evidence is clear. If you want to change a habit, you must find an alternative routine and your odds of success go up dramatically when you commit to changing as part of a group..

Remember,  believe is essential, and it grows out of a communal experience even if that community is as large as two.

We know change can happen.  We also know change is a factor of determination and effort.  It’s not going to be so easy to change without these two factors.  Remember,  when there is no will,  there is will power.  You will become who you will to become if you will to become.

The law of compensation.

law of compensation.png

Whatever a man saweth, also shall he reap.

The amount of money you gonna receive is in direct ratio to:
1. The need of what you do.
2. The ability to do it.
3. The difficulty there is in replacing you.

– This is a law worth a million when fully understood. It is however violated by many, especially those who do enough to get by, just so they don’t get fired and the company just pays them enough so they don’t quit.

– when you become very effective at what you do, you will become very difficult to get replaced. When you perform every task to your best, you bring out the best that is in you. It is key to understand that you have infinite potential. Only you can limit yourself. Remember always that you are an incredible person.

You get back exactly what you put in. You put a Lot, you get back a lot.

The law of compensation is based on what you do. Put the energy out there, put the full efforts. Get better at what you are doing. Say! ” I am going to get better at what am doing ” and your whole world will get better. Get better in your thoughts, association, vocabulary and control of you. If you can take control, control how you control your self control in every action.

Cheers😊 1:14

Today, I took a look at this man named Schultz , the owner of a billion dollar company – Starbucks. He bought the company after asking money from everyone he knew then grew it to 17,000 + stores. Incredible!

” My mum always said, you are going to be the first person to go to college, you are going to be a professional, you are going to make us all proud. She would ask these little questions, ‘ how are you going to study tonight? What are you going to study tomorrow? How do you know you are ready for your test?’  It trained me to set goals. I have and genuinely believe that if you tell people that they have what it takes to succeed, they will prove you right. ”

One key point from his strategy in the company is, he developed keynote habits. Habits that led to strong automatic willpower. Habits that were trained for more than 185 hour every year.

Indeed, with discipline, self control and a strong will power backed up by a definite purpose and a burning desire to achieve your purpose, success must be a reality.
